Adobe Firefly — Machine Intelligence and New Technologies (2021 - Present)

The Machine Intelligence and New Technologies (MINT) design team is central to generative AI at Adobe. On this team, I’m one of the main designers working on new experiences for Adobe Firefly, our family of generative AI models. My responsibilities include concept, strategy, interaction prototyping, synthesis of learnings from users, and generally acting as a connective tissue between engineering research, customer needs, and product. Try the new Firefly Image 3 model (preview) for yourself and let me know what you think!

Among many others, some major contributors to Adobe Firefly from the MINT design team include Brooke Hopper, Kelly Hurlburt, Veronica Peitong Chen, Corey Lucier, and CJ Gammon.

At the start of 2021, I joined Adobe’s Machine Intelligence Design team, a small multidisciplinary group of designers and engineers investigating what the future of AI/ML could look like for our creative tools and products. Our team has grown significantly since then, as AI creativity has quickly gone from a future-focused vision to a technology that’s here today and already impacting the way we create in major ways. We now take on projects across the spectrum, from working on existing products to designing experiences for all types of new and emerging technologies.

A little piece on me and the pursuit of designing tools that allow people to express themselves and their own individuality

How can we meet this very powerful technology with holistically-considered experiences that are at the forefront intuitive, empathetic, inclusive, and empowering? Here I work toward a future where technology doesn’t replace creativity but instead enables it, not just for professional artists but for everyone and anyone who wants to create.
